"a.t.o.m.e." is a group exhibition featuring 15 artists from Frankfurt, Offenbach and Mainz, curated by Serkan Goeren, Jérôme North and Aikaterini Kontou. The project brings artistic positions from the Rhine-Main region to Berlin after the Milchhof exhibited in Frankfurt at the Kunstverein Familie Montez at the beginning of this year.
The exhibition brings together diverse practices ranging from painting, photography, sculpture and installation. Themes such as the body, memory, identity, intimacy, resistance, migration and transformation connect the different artistic positions.
The curatorial concept draws on metamodern thinking, which does not seek to resolve opposites but places them in dialogue: irony and sincerity, hope and doubt, intimacy and publicness, craftsmanship and concept, analogue and digital. The works reflect a present that is simultaneously contradictory, emotional, complex and open.
The title "a.t.o.m.e." understands the individual artistic positions as "atoms" that encounter one another within the exhibition space and form new constellations. The aim is to bring the artistic scenes of Frankfurt and Berlin into resonance, create new dialogues and make diverse perspectives on contemporary art visible.
